A space for radio sailing, not self‑promotion

My website exists to inform, support, and engage with people who share a genuine passion for radio sailing. It is a place for thoughtful discussion, technical insight, and constructive debate. From time to time, when a subject feels particularly important, I share a post on Facebook - especially on the MYA Downwind page, where many of the sport’s most active sailors read and contribute.
It is therefore disappointing when these occasional shares are sometimes interpreted as attempts to “drive traffic” to my site. That is simply not the case.
This website is entirely non‑commercial. There are no adverts, no sponsored content, and no revenue tied to page views. With a worldwide community of roughly 10,000 radio sailors, monetising web traffic is neither realistic nor a goal. The only optional contribution is via Buy Me a Coffee, which exists solely to help cover basic hosting and maintenance costs.
At times, a post may touch on matters that overlap with my MYA responsibilities. When that happens, the intention is not promotional - it is to gather early, honest feedback on topics that benefit from wider discussion, such as behaviour on the bank. In fact, a recent post and its positive feedback, prompted MYA action
The purpose of this site is straightforward: to contribute positively to the sport, to encourage open and constructive dialogue, and to help improve the experience for everyone involved, especially newcomers.
To the accusation that this is AI Slop, all the text is of my own creation. I may use AI to correct grammar and maybe word things better but always from my own original text.
Having got that out of the way I am now back to sailing, with an IOM ranking event this weekend the DF95 Nationals the weekend after, 12 days holiday in the west country and then the Marblehead nationals in the mecca of radio sailing Fleetwood. I can't wait.
One last thing. It is so pleasing to see that many of the people I raced against in dinghies are turning to radio sailing. They are the ones ensuring that club activity is thriving. I would like to see them travel more but understand they have many other commitments that keep them restricted to their local area. They join the bread and butter of our sailing community. With an MYA membership of over 2000, less than 5% travel on a regualar basis. Clubs are the sports strength and delighted to say they are thriving.
Hope you sailing is as good as your expectation.
Nigel
