Ian Vickers Tribute at Northshore Radio Yacht Squadron

Graham Cross who was a close friend and sailing companion of Ian Vickers for many years had the pleasure of putting together a tribute to Ian on behalf of the Northshore Radio Yacht Squadron were Ian was a valued and much respected member.

A set of Vickers sails kindly donated by Fleetwood's Paul Middleton were signed by all the competitors at the 2026 IOM World Championships and came back to NZ with Colin Cashmore. These sails formed the centre piece of the tribute.

On Sunday 4th October 2026, the tribute was veiled lakeside in front of a large gathering of Ian's fellow sailors and friends. The unveiling was followed with an afternoons racing concluding with a BBQ.

The tribute is now mounted on the clubhouse wall for all to appreciate, and in December the tribute will travel to the New Zealand IOM Nationals (hosted in Nelson, South Island, fleet of 60+) for skippers to view before returning to the clubhouse.
