Thought for the Day - Back to school

Whilst racing over the weekend I was wondering about my tactics or rather lack of tactics and realised I probably needed a refresher course after many years off racing. So I did a bit of hunting around and came across Mark Rushall's RYA book on strategy and tactics. Mark is a highly respected sailor and coach and has put all his experience into this book. I will let you know what I learn.

Whilst looking I came across several useful snippets. Little gems on positioning the boat against the fleet for the next wind shift, when to drive hard and fast and when to point high. Just search on tactics and racing strategy. It's amazing what we don't know. I have much to learn.

2 months until the next ranking event.

Fleetwood - What did I learn

Marbleheads are just the best boats to sail. Fast, tricky to set up well but go like the clappers when you get it right. There is a report on the event on facebook MYA downwind along with a lot of go

Marblehead ranking weekend at Fleetwood

We are sailing at one of the best facilities in the country but unfortunately the wind did not get the email and is forecast to blow across the lake all weekend with gusts up to 40 on Saturday and Sun
