What a treat - Emsworth Slipper Club Christmas Lunch

So I had the pleasure to sit next to two of Rodney Pattison's Flying Dutchman crew. Chris Davies was Rodney's crew when they won Gold in the 1972 Olympics in Kiel. Jonathan Clark has the unique record crewing for Rodney one campaign and then being asked back for a second go. Both of course sail in a more sedate manner now but it was fascinating to hear stories about Rodney and his sailing campaigns. Jonathan supports many good causes in his spare time. I was trying to figure out how he fitted it all in.

The Slipper Sailing club is a delightful venue with a bar upstairs and the food served downstairs. It was built by the members with lottery funding grant and has plenty of character. I gave a short talk on my trip to Australia for the IOM worlds which hopefully went down well. All in all a delightful relaxed afternoon.
